I celebrated a life-giving sixty years of Monastic vows in August 2020. Since I made first profession in January 1960 in Atchison, KS, I’ve never looked back. I like to describe my lived experience as a Benedictine Sister as “two hands clapping with only one sound of rejoicing.” One hand represents my transformation to seek God in daily living within community and the other hand represents what has flowed from that choice into my service and ministry. I see life as creative, challenging and exciting. My current creative challenge is helping to secure the future of Bakhita Mountain Home, a separate 501(c)3 organization to help adult victims of human trafficking.
My work has brought me into contact with a variety of cultures and people who have filled me with gratitude for the abundance and richness of God’s lavish blessings from the relationships we have developed. My past work included teaching, administration, work with the Theresians, and service to my community in a variety of administrative positions and as Prioress from 1999-2005. I have always endeavored to approach my work and calling with an attitude of faith, trust and obedience.
Everything that I have experienced has been useful. Even my mistakes have been opportunities for maturing. Not one second of my life has been in vain, because all that I have lived is part of a Divine design of an unconditional loving Creator, the Source of all Being.
