The Benedictine charism was born in the hearts of St. Benedict and St. Scholastica, “To seek God in community…”

Benedictine sisterhood spreads to St. Mary’s, Pennsylvania for the purpose of educating immigrant children.

Benedictine sisters answer the call for a Benedictine presence and service in Atchison, Kansas. Mount St. Scholastica is founded.

Benedictine sisters asked to expand their education ministry to Colorado:

1914-1992 Walsenburg

1934-1971 San Luis Valley

1937-1972 Started St. Cajetan’s School in Denver

1953-1971 Sacred Heart Cathedral School in Pueblo

1964-1982 Started Our Lady of Fatima in Denver

1968 Started Holy Trinity in Colorado Springs

1977 Former Prioress Liguori Sullivan starts John Neumann School in Pueblo

Sisters founded Benet Hill Academy which “grew out of a need-a need for a school in the service of the Lord” (A Song in the Pines). From 1963 to 1982 over 2,000 girls received an education based on academic excellence and Catholic moral values

Benet Hill Monastery was founded by the pioneer spirit of 77 Benedictine women with a passion for the Monastic life and for the needs of the people along the front range.

We Closed Benet Hill Academy and responded to the need for adult lay formation and education in the areas of Bible Studies, Chrisitian Spirituality, Liturgical and Catechetical Training, Retreat Ministries and Spiritual Direction.

We sold our properties on Chelton Road and built a new Monastery and Ministry Center at our Benet Pines Retreat Center.

We moved to our new location, 3190 Benet Lane in northeast Colorado Springs.

Benedictine Spirituality Center in the Pines continues offering Benedictine Spirituality, Scripture Studies, Retreats and Contemplative Prayer. We expanded globally with online classes.

Benet Hill Monastery sponsored the St. John’s Bible exhibit with Colorado College.

New direction is developed in Scripture studies with the program: “Walking With Benedict Through the Scriptures.” A Blog was created for Benet Hill: “Presence in the Pines.”

Benedictine Spirituality Center partners with Pillar Institute.
