A Pilgrimage with the People of the Amazon
Benet Hill Monastery
& Minga Peru
Who goes on a pilgrimage?
Anyone can go on a pilgrimage! Pope Francis said this about pilgrimages, “Setting out on a journey is traditionally associated with our human quest for meaning in life…Journeying from one country to another as if borders no longer mattered, and passing from one city to another in contemplating the beauty of creation…we learn to treasure the richness of different experiences and cultures, and are inspired to lift up that beauty, in prayer, to God, in thanksgiving for his wondrous work.”

Pilgrim stories, before and after
In November, 2025, Sisters Jan Ginzkey and Anne Madeleine Brost were among twenty-three pilgrims who traveled to Lima then onto Iquitos and Nauta, cities in the Loretto Region of Peru. They met community organizers and youth entrepreneurs in several Kukama villages along the great rivers of the Amazon River basin. It was a life-changing experience.
Pilgrimage #2: Nov 29 - Dec 4, 2026
Registration is now open for Pilgrimage #2!
The total cost of this trip, per person, is $2500. To reserve your spot, we’re asking for half of that ($1250) by May 15, 2026. Half of that will be refundable up until August 15, when the second half is due, after which it is not refundable. That $2500 includes all in-country travel, food, lodging, and Spanish-English interpretation.
The only thing it doesn’t include is flights to and from Peru, and depending on what time you arrive, you may need to get your own cab from the Lima airport to the hotel (info will be provided). A large portion of the total will directly support Minga’s programs, which you will experience firsthand during your time in the Amazon.
