A different theme for each walk

Take two hours away from the noise and activity of daily living to reconnect with your heart center and creation.

Sister Jan Ginzkey, OSB, is your guide, offering one hour of education on the theme followed by a one hour experience in the pine forest, either walking the labyrinth or exploring the trees sacred to the native Ute peoples.

There is room for 30 participants so please register early for these popular walks! All donations welcome. Suggested minimum $25 donation for each walk.

2026 Season: Awaken Joy: Experience a summer pilgrimage at Benet Hill Monastery. Each walk and the retreat are unique. For those who would like to go deeper into understanding and appreciating these living artifacts, consider using one of our specially-designed passports and receive a stamp for each attended walks and retreat  We will have a drawing of those with filled passports, and the lucky winners will receive a packet of gift cards of the labyrinth from the monastery’s Benet Gift Shop.

Saturday, June 13, 9am – 11am: We Are All One

On this guided labyrinth walk, Sister Jan will share her knowledge of the universality of the labyrinth across cultures and religions as we explore the spiritual concept of oneness. Suggested minimum donation – $25

Saturday, June 27, 9 – 11am: One with Creation

On this first guided walk among culturally modified trees, Sister Jan will share from her deep knowing that the forest is sacred ground to ancient and contemporary people. You will visit a few of these living artifacts on the monastery grounds. Suggested donation – $25.

Saturday, July 18, 9am – 12pm: Labyrinth as a Pilgrimage

On this second guided labyrinth walk, Sister Jan will deepen our understanding of the history of labyrinths and their symbolism for pilgrims yesterday and today. Suggested minimum donation – $25

Saturday, July 25, 9am – Noon: Awareness of the Wisdom of Trees.

Learn how trees communicate with one another to share nutrients and to protect one another. Learn how to identify culturally modified trees on the monastery grounds. Suggested donation – $25.

Saturday, August 8, 9am – 12pm: Introduction to Sacred Geometry

On the third guided labyrinth walk, Sister Jan will share how the beauty of mathematics is integrated into each labyrinth. Learn how the ancient and medieval people understood sacred numbers. Suggested minimum donation – $25

Saturday August 22, 9am – Noon: Gifts of the Forest

Use your skills to identify different types and purposes for the culturally modified trees. Experience how the forest offers physical, emotional and psychological benefits for you. Enjoy a forest bathing experience. Suggested donation – $25.

Saturday, September 12, 9am – 12pm: More Sacred Geometry

On this final guided labyrinth walk, Sister Jan will describe the importance of sacred numbers found in the labyrinth and how the Chartres Labyrinth was possibly a Lunar calendar. Suggested minimum donation – $25
