“God alone is enough. God alone is enough. Whoever has God wants for nothing.”

“As I reflect on my years of vowed life, I have found that God alone is enough. I am grateful for God’s calling and the gifts given to me. These last 60 years would never have become a reality for me if it had not been for my first 20 years growing up in Colorado Springs in a loving, caring family. I am grateful for the treasure of loved ones, especially my parents, brothers and sister and their spouses and families. Their example of love and faithfulness has been an inspiration to me. I am also thankful for the St. Mary’s grade and high school education in Colorado Springs, and for the sisters at Mount Saint Scholastica in Atchison, Kansas, for my early years in religious life and the opportunity to obtain a B.S. in Education.”

Sister Helen taught school in Missouri and Kansas. In Colorado she taught in Walsenburg, Antonito, Denver and Colorado Springs. She has served the Benet Hill community in many ministries. She has been the director of transportation since 1972, capably handling the records, maintenance and purchase of all the cars, vans and trucks necessary for keeping the sisters safely on their way wherever they ministered. Sister Helen has been the chief shopper for all household and office needs. For many years she and Sister Lucile also purchased all the groceries and food service needs for the monastery.

Sister Helen continues to share the Benedictine hospitality greeting all friends and guests with a welcoming smile. Her hobbies are fishing, cross stitching, crocheting, reading and jigsaw puzzles.
