Get to know Sister Mary Agnes McPhee, OSB

Birthday: December 29

Sister Agnes McPhee, OSB, daughter of Jess and Agnes (Fitzgerald) McPhee, was born in Brush, Colorado. She entered religious life at Mount St. Scholastica, Atchison, KS in 1943. She professed vows on January 1, 1945. In 1958 she received the Rite of Consecration.

She ministered as an educator in elementary and secondary schools and Mt. St. Scholastica College. She was principal for 15 years at LeBlond High School, St. Joseph, MO, founding principal of St. Michael’s High School; Austin, TX and teacher in St. Mary’s High School, Colorado Springs.

She served five years as staff member of Benet Hill Center and Benet Pines Retreat Center, teaching Centering Prayer and directing retreats. We will remember her as a kind, gentle, warm-hearted woman deeply rooted in prayer.
