Volunteer Appreciation Picnic
From Fall Review 2018
With these words of reflection, Mike Matthews accepted the St. Benedict Award for Service presented at the Volunteer Appreciation Picnic on Saturday, September 29th. Several members of his family were present for the occasion, as well as many volunteers, and past award recipients Don Becker, Carolyn Leskinen, Sher Hayden, and Toni Lohman. (Cliff Eisenach was also fondly remembered for his service to the sisters.)

Sister Clare Carr, OSB, Prioress, and Mike Matthews, 2018 St. Benedict Award for Service recipient, share a smile at the end of the volunteer appreciation picnic
Volunteers contribute hundreds of hours in multiple ways. We welcome your help in the following areas:
• Driving a sister to an appointment
• Clearing brush in the forest
• Singing in the holiday Schola (choir) for liturgies
• Planting and maintaining the garden beds
• Weekend or after-hour receptionist
Volunteers pass a background check and participate in an orientation session. Please contact the monastery to discuss volunteer opportunities at volunteer@benethillmonastery.org
