Volunteer Appreciation Picnic

From Fall Review 2018

“I have been the beneficiary of the profound hospitality and acceptance that I receive every time I visit the monastery. It is as though I have come home again, to the warmth, kindness and affection each of the sisters shows me whenever I’m in their midst. It is as though my heart has found a place of welcome and repose…because it has.”

With these words of reflection, Mike Matthews accepted the St. Benedict Award for Service presented at the Volunteer Appreciation Picnic on Saturday, September 29th. Several members of his family were present for the occasion, as well as many volunteers, and past award recipients Don Becker, Carolyn Leskinen, Sher Hayden, and Toni Lohman. (Cliff Eisenach was also fondly remembered for his service to the sisters.)

Thank You, Sonja!

Sonja Ragaller has served as Interim Volunteer Coordinator for nearly 2 1/2 years and is handing over the volunteer coordination responsibilities to the mission advancement office. As interim coordinator, Sonja has efficiently updated and developed the policies and procedures, application forms, record keeping and interview process as well as work on an updated list of current volunteers. Sonja is very conscious of how important volunteers are to the success of a non-profit organization. Thank you, Sonja for the outstanding job!

We are so grateful for all the volunteers who have given their time to advance the mission of the sisters of Benet Hill Monastery over the past two years.

We are in the process of confirming everyone’s interest in serving as volunteers in the 2018-2019 year, and will be in touch in coming weeks. Thank you again for your gifts of time and talents!
